Chapter 34

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

Inside their suite, Daisy was warm and wrapped in a soft terry robe.

Her Daddies hadn’t stopped doting on her, and she was starting to grow embarrassed but had to acknowledge that she also loved the attention.

“So this whole thing was a scheme?” she asked.

Walker downed a measure of the beer he held, having secured some drinks from downstairs, before answering. “Yep. That small man we didn’t recognize at all wasn’t a man at all.”

“It was Selena,” Cane revealed. “That whole thing was a setup to throw us off their trail.”

“And it was all about getting land?” Daisy wondered aloud.

It was Austin who gave her the answer. “Uh-huh. They wanted to simultaneously drive the value of the land down and force the owners to sell. Figured creating some arsonist panic would do the trick. They had dreams of building vacation rentals and renting them to tourists. Thought they’d get rich.”

Daisy took a sip of her Mai Tai—a tropical drink she’d ordered to try and take her mind off the bitter cold she’d been trapped in outside—and then said, “Is Selena even a Little? Is he really a Daddy?”

“Who knows,” Walker told her. “But my guess is no. It’s all a lie. They saw a trusting community in Big Cedar, along with beautiful, valuable land, and they conned us all. Or tried to. But they’re in jail now, and they have a lot of crimes to answer for. The authorities will have to sort out the charges and who has jurisdiction. But the good news is that he’s locked up and probably will be for some time.”

“That’s right. And the important thing is that they didn’t get away with it,” Cane said as he sat down on the bed next to Daisy. He put his arm around her shoulders, gently pulled her close, and kissed the top of her head. “And most importantly, our little girl is safe.”

“Thanks to my Daddies,” she replied with a blushing giggle.

Walker and Austin surrounded her now, too.

“Your Daddies will always keep you safe,” Austin said. “Remember that.”

She drank some more before asking, “You really think this will work? All of us together?”

“I don’t think so,” Walker said. He grinned. “I know so.”

“Because we love each other like brothers,” Austin added. "And we love you like the precious girl of ours that you are.”

“He’s right,” Cane said. “We’ll all face life, and go have fun on this crazy adventure, together. Always.”

A warmth spread throughout Daisy and it didn’t have anything to do with the drink.

“I can keep my house and rent it out as a vacation place,” she suggested.

“Sounds good to me,” Walker said with an approving nod. “Good plan, since you’ll be living in the firehouse with us.”

She giggled. There was nowhere she’d rather be than in that fire station, with her Daddies.

“Are we going to go meet the others for dinner and then play in the arcade and casino?” She shifted on the bed and took another sip of the Mai Tai.

“Yep,” Walker said.

“But we still have forty-five minutes,” Cane chimed in.

Austin grinned. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking, darlin’?”

She handed her drink off to Walker who placed it on a coaster atop the bedside table. She stood and opened her robe, revealing her naked body.

The body she was getting more comfortable with, thanks to her Daddies’ love and acceptance.

“A lot can happen in forty-five minutes,” she said.

“Damn boys. She’s primed and ready!” Cane exclaimed.

Walker was already shirking out of his clothes. “Don’t have to tell me twice.”

“Best way to spend forty-five minutes, that’s for sure,” Austin said.

Daisy giggled as she opened her arms wide to hug all three of the now naked men as they approached.

“I love you, Daddies.”

Austin, Cane, and Walker answered in unison.

“We love you, too, darlin’.”
