Chapter 15
ChapterFifteen
CHLOE
We stand silently in the entryway as Paul gets into the waiting vehicle, thankful he made the right choice. As mad as I am at him, I still want him to get help. This could be a good thing because he holds so much hate and anger inside of him.
“I suppose the wedding is off,” Luke says, breaking the long silence.
Kelly flinches, and I didn’t miss that she didn’t hug Paul goodbye. Instead, she stepped away from him awkwardly before moving to the side.
“Luke,” I hiss and then glare at him.
“What?” He shrugs. “Probably for the best.”
It’s not that I think he’s wrong, but is this really the time for that? He has a way of adding his two cents on everything.
“It’s postponed,” my mom says, and I can tell she’s trying to lighten the blow.
“I ah...” Kelly wrings her fingers together. “I don’t know, but I should probably leave.”
“You don’t have to go,” I say when seeing the sadness in her eyes. I can’t imagine what she’s going through right now. The last thing I want to do is send her off all alone.
“I really should. There are some things I need to take care of.”
“Oh, honey, don’t worry about the wedding. I’ll call everyone and let them know it’s off for the time being.”
“Um...” Kelly shakes her head. “There’s still some things I need to do. I need to grab my bag.”
Maybe this is all really affecting her, but I get the feeling canceling the wedding isn’t what she’s referring to.
When I look up at Sawyer, he releases his hold on me so I can follow after Kelly. I could see the tears in her eyes, and although we’re not close I want to make sure she’s all right.
“Hey,” I say when I follow her into the formal sitting room. Kelly slips on her jacket before grabbing her purse. “I’m sorry about today, but this can be a good thing. After Paul gets healthy, then you can be together.”
“We’re not going to be together.”
“Okay, that’s your choice, but love can?—”
“It’s not love.” She lets out a humorless laugh, and it catches me off guard. “Sorry. It’s ah, well. Never mind.” Kelly shakes her head. “It doesn’t matter. Thank you for all you did. I’m really sorry I’ve wasted everyone’s time.”
“You didn’t waste my time. I enjoyed our time together.” I really did.
The truth is, I’ve always wondered how she ended up with Paul. I thought maybe she was a bit too na?ve and sweet, and that’s how he pulled the wool over her eyes. I assumed he tricked her into it somehow.
“Thanks,” she says again, but before she can go, I grab her hand.
“You can always call me.”
Kelly gives me a watery smile but nods. “I appreciate that.”
“I’m guessing you need a lift?” Luke says when we return. Everyone is still standing in the entryway.
“I was going to call a ride.” Kelly goes to take her phone out of her purse, but Luke waves her off.
“I’ll take you,” Luke insists, and then Kelly responds. I don’t catch what she said before they’re both gone and Bruce closes the door behind them.
“I know a lot has already happened today, but there are a few things we need to talk about,” I say when we’re finally alone.
“Tell me it’s not bad.” Mom’s eyes are almost pleading.
“I’m pregnant,” I blurt out, and she screams before engulfing me in a hug. “It’s twins.”
“I’ll be damned,” Bruce chuckles and then smacks Sawyer on the back.
“This is wonderful.” My mom wipes away tears and looks like she’s about to burst.
“I have a feeling there’s something else,” Bruce guesses before looking at Sawyer.
“There is, but we don’t have to do it today,” Sawyer agrees.
“I have a feeling I already know what it is.” He lets out a long sigh like he’s waiting for the blow.
“I’m not going to leave you high and dry.”
“I know you wouldn’t do that, son, but I shouldn’t have dropped it on you. I could tell a few days in you weren’t enjoying the job,” Bruce says, not sounding surprised.
“We’ll figure something out,” Sawyer reassures him, and I smile. Bruce doesn’t seem angry or hurt, just disappointed.
We spend the next few hours having dinner, and when we leave, I feel lighter. With everything that’s happened over the past week, in the end things all worked out for the best. Although I’m not so sure my husband would fully agree with that.
“How long are you going to hold out on me?” I place my hand on Sawyer’s thigh as he drives us home.
“If I recall, I made you cum several times this morning.” I trail my fingers higher up to his cock and stroke him over his slacks. He clears his throat, and I try to hide my smirk.
“I miss you inside me.” I feel so connected to him when we make love.
“Kitten,” he warns.
“The doctor said it was okay!” I huff before folding my arms over my chest.
“Do you think you can tease me? Stroking my cock then pulling away?”
I stare out the window, ignoring him. Suddenly his hand is up my skirt and he yanks my panties down to my knees. I’m exposed in one hard tug and gasp in surprise.
“All the way off, kitten, or I’ll keep you on the edge of cumming all night.”
Knowing he’s not joking, I quickly get them the rest of the way down my legs and then hand them over.
“Good girl,” he praises me, and my whole body lights up.
“Now you’re the one being a tease.” I pretend to pout.
Sawyer pulls into the garage, and he’s out of the car in seconds. As he walks around the front, I see him undoing his belt at the same time, and it’s so damn hot.
He pulls me out of the car, and I wrap my legs around his waist as he carries me inside. We’re barely past the threshold of our home when he pins me to the wall and thrusts his cock all the way in. I let out a moan as my pussy grips his cock and my fingers dig into his shoulders.
“Always so ready for me.”
“Yes!” I cry out as he buries his cock deep. “I’ll always be ready for you.”
“And you can bet your pretty little ass that I’ll always give you what you need,” he growls before his mouth comes down onto mine.
That’s a bet I’m more than willing to make.
