CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

What was wrong withhim?

This is why I don't do one-on-one.

Did he just fall for every girl he slept with without a chaperone?

He'd invited Leilani away with his family to be a distraction, and so he could enjoy more fun sexy times.

But things weren't working out.

She was getting under his skin.

More than your skin. Admit it.

One minute he was falling into Leilani's beautiful brown eyes, and then the next minute he had her up against the wall and was fucking her harder than he'd ever fucked anyone.

Not just with force.

But with passion.

Claiming and demanding her submission and compliance. Possessing every inch of her pussy. Her body.

Her soul.

And she'd let him.

God fucking damn her.

Didn't she know? Couldn't she feel it? She should've pushed him away and got down on her knees and just sucked him off.

Way less intimate.

Now, as she stood in the shower, letting him wash her soft silky curves, those eyes of hers were full of pain after he'd yanked his cock out.

Disconnecting from the threat of what this could mean.

"Are we leaving?" she asked, turning toward the shower head, rinsing off.

His mouth dropped to her shoulder and kissed it.

No, because if we leave, then I know I'll never taste you again, and as fucked up as I am, I am not ready to let you go.

Jacob wasn't a mind reader, but her questions today had been telling. She could never accept his lifestyle and he could never fuck her singularly and risk falling...falling more.

"No," Jacob replied as Leilani turned and lay her hands on his chest, which she seemed to love doing. Her body pressed against his, his cock hanging semi hard between them.

"Okay," she said. "Let's take it step-by-step."

Like she was going to help him through this. As his family was trying to do.

Like she cared.

As he fucking cared for her.

Goddamn it.

"You're too good for me," Jacob said, wrapping his arms around her, wanting to apologize for going cold on her moments before. But that would lead to an explanation he couldn't give.

"I know. But I love your body, so I put up with you." She smirked, teasing him.

"Oh yeah, shall I show you—"

"Nope. You did that. I need a break," she cried, giggling.

So he lowered to his knees. "Let me try it this way, then."

––––––––

FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, they headed downstairs and slipped into their chairs around the very impressive long dining table outside. The meals were just being delivered so everyone was distracted with the delicious aromas of baked salmon, asparagus and roasted pumpkin, and yams.

"Where are the kumara?" Harper asked.

"What is kumara?" Logan frowned. "Does it live in the ocean?"

Harper and Kristen giggled, and Jacob figured it must be a kiwi thing.

"It's like sweet potato, but different. Mostly purple."

"Purple? The fuck?" Hunter screwed up his face.

"It's nice. I had it in New Zealand when I was there," Daniel shared. "Very nutritious."

"Thanks, Gordon Ramsey." Fletcher rolled his eyes.

"Technically, they are red, purple, and gold," Harper said, popping a mouthful of salmon into her mouth. "Whiss wiz dewiscious."

"Thank you," Olivia said. "Someone else made it."

Everyone chuckled.

"Mommy, can we go watch a movie?" Sammy asked.

"Two more vegetables and then you can go," Fletcher said.

Sammy huffed and glanced at Olivia, who nodded. Sienna glanced at her mom, Addy, looking for a different answer, and Jacob giggled to himself.

Had they done that as kids?

"It's like negotiating with terrorists," Hunter said, then glanced at Logan and Aidan. "You'll need to sharpen up your skills before your kids arrive."

"My skills are sharp enough, thanks." Aidan smirked. "Got my girl knocked up, didn't I?"

"Aidan," Lily gasped.

"You two are the epitome of opposites attract." Emma giggled.

"She couldn't resist me." Aidan leaned over and kissed his wife.

"I could. I took pity on you." Lily smiled, but everyone could see her warm cheeks and how in love with him she was.

He glanced beside him at Leilani, who was smiling at them in awe. Yeah, he supposed through the eyes of a single woman, it must draw some envy. There were a lot of happy couples around this table.

Single?

Is that how he saw her? As someone another man could sweep off her feet and take from him? Fuck that! What if there was a connection between her and Knox? He was a good-looking motherfucker.

Jacob shoved a mouthful of pumpkin into his mouth with too much force and stabbed himself.

"Ouch. Fuck," he said, and the little girls giggled at him.

He grinned at them, his teeth coated in the vegetable, and they lost it further.

"Okay kids, go watch a movie." Olivia laughed. "Daddy will set it up for you."

Fletcher's fork froze halfway to his mouth. Then it dropped. "Can't even eat in peace." He grumbled as he wiped his mouth and then rounded up the girls, herding them inside as they jumped up and down excitedly, talking about the movie they were going to watch.

"You've seen it twenty times already." Fletcher shook his head as they all disappeared.

"He loves it," Oliva said, sipping her wine with a smile. That's when her eyes landed on Harper's wineglass, and she froze.

Harper stilled and looked at her glass.

"Told you," Daniel mumbled.

Both women looked at one another.

Olivia glanced at Kristen, who seemed oblivious and let out a muffled "Whwat?" as her mouth was full.

"You...you...Oh my fucking God." Olivia stumbled, dropping her wineglass to the table with a bang.

What the hell was going on?

Jacob glanced around and everyone seemed to be watching them, too.

Daniel sat back in his chair, almost resigned to the moment, and Jacob frowned, shooting Blake a questioning look.

He seemed as confused as everyone else.

"Did I miss something?" Leilani whispered, and he shrugged.

"No!" Addison gasped.

"Okay, what the hell is going on?" Jacob asked.

"Say it!" Olivia pointed at Harper, who was grinning like a crazy woman.

More than usual.

She reached and took Daniel's hand and OMFG the man SMILED.

"What's wrong with him?" Hunter asked, looking worried. "What are you doing?"

"It's called smiling, dick." Daniel grinned wider.

Okay, yeah, this was weird.

"What's happening?" Leilani whispered again, grabbing his forearm.

Which he liked.

"I have no idea." Bella said on the other side of her. The two, he'd noticed, were becoming more and more friendly each day.

"Oh my God," Amelia gasped quietly, laying a hand on Jack"s arm, mirroring what Leilani had done.

"You're all freaking me out. Is there a national emergency I need to know about right now?" the senator asked.

"Yes!" Olivia asked, then caught herself. "No, Jack. Sorry. Clearly you would know before me."

Jack glanced across the table at Jacob and frowned.

Sorry, buddy. Can't help. I'm as confused as you.

Then Harper straightened in her chair and did a little bounce.

Kristen dropped her fork as if she had figured it out.

"We are PREGNANT!" Harper exclaimed.

The women screamed, except Leilani, who was stunned by the outburst.

"Goddamn it," Hunter mumbled as everyone else leaped up to congratulate them.

Next minute, glasses were lifted, and they were making a toast to the next little Dufort who would soon be birthed.

"I'm going to be a dad." Daniel smiled, wrapping his arm around Harper. "The next Dufort CEO."

"Or president." Harper grinned.

"That's it, baby. Aim high." Daniel kissed her nose.
