8. Garin

Chapter 8

Garin

Trig looked around. "It seemed a lot bigger when I was little."

I stood in the center of the small cabin and dropped my bag to the floor.

"I mean, Justice and I always slept outside in a tent, so I don't remember ever having multiple adults in here at once."

He'd told me about coming here a few times and always fondly. I hated that we were coming here for the first time together for something dangerous.

"Did we bring tents?" Nate's eyes were locked on the only bed that was pushed up into one corner, opposite the kitchenette. "Or a toilet?"

I busted out with a laugh at the genuine fear in his voice.

"There's a bathroom. I'm sure it needs to be cleaned, but it should work. And a shower." Trig opened the door in the center of the back wall. "See? It's not too bad." When he turned the faucet on the sink, it sputtered for a few seconds and then a flood of rusty water flowed out before eventually being replaced by crisp and clear well water.

"Nice." I put my arm on Trig's shoulder, and I leaned in to look at the water. "Now get out. I gotta piss."

When I came out, Nate and Trig had unloaded the supplies he had brought with him. It wasn't a lot, but it would be enough to get us through the next couple days. After that, one of us would need to venture into town for more, but we'd cross that bridge when we came to it.

I went over to the kitchen sink and turned it on, watching until the water ran clear. I was glad his grandfather hadn't been too rustic when he designed this place. Nate and I could do without running water simply by shifting and letting our beasts find a stream and using nature for what it was intended for. But for Trig, that would be a different story altogether.

"I've never really camped like this before." Nate held up an old-fashioned can opener and stared at the triangular tip like he had no idea what to do with it. "This is gonna be fun."

I wasn't sure it would be fun, per se. Sexually frustrating, sure, but not fun. Having the two men in the car with me, their scents surrounding me and making my cock beg to come out and play was…something. When I said we needed to make a plan after we got out of town, mostly it was so we could be where the air was less…enticing. "Yeah, but…" I was just starting to realize the flaw in my brilliant plan. "We don't have wifi, so we'll have to rely on hotspots to get any work done."

Nate reached for the wall phone and lifted the receiver up then held it to his ear. "There's a dial tone." That surprised me. How much had Trig and Justice been paying to keep all the utilities going on this place? I was glad they had, but wow. And for a building as visually rustic as this one was, his grandfather sure liked some creature comforts, which worked out well for us.

Trig smiled. "My grandfather insisted on having phone service out here, but we never had wifi."

I pulled out my phone and checked to see if there was service. "I've got two bars, but there's a cliff about 100 yards out that should have a clear line to the cell tower in town." Two bars would do in a pinch, but it wasn't strong enough to be a work hotspot for any of us.

"I can take some time off from work." Nate shrugged without any hesitation. "I never use my PTO, so I'll just tell my assistant I've got a cold and need some time off. They'll be fine without me for a few days."

"Good. That's good." I considered my own schedule and decided he was on to something. "Actually, I'll do the same. I've got nothing urgent happening at work, and this is more important."

Nate looked between me and Trig as he tore open a box of granola bars and leaned on the counter between us.

Trig nodded as he tore apart a granola bar wrapper. "Me too. However long we need." He looked right at Nate. "We'll make sure you're safe, little one."

"So, Trig, I know you're human…" Nate shoved his hands in his front pockets.

I grabbed a granola bar to give my hands something to do that wasn't reaching out and touching the omega, comforting him in the way of our beasts.

Nate's eyes went wide, and the energy in the room changed as his scent intensified. "Sorry, um. Maybe I should step outside for a few minutes."

"No!" Trig said a little too loudly "Stay. Tell me what you were gonna say."

"I was about to say that…when I scent you, my body and my beast reacts." He turned to face me. "And the same happens with you. I don't quite understand."

"Thank fuck it isn't just me." I hadn't meant to blurt it out like that, but there was a relief that came from just putting it out there.

"Same. Only without the beast part." Trig grabbed the back of his neck. "Now what?"

"I don't know, but something. I've been hard as a rock since I met Garin, and then with you in the car…" He indicated the bed. "Is it too soon?"

I already had my hand on the hem of my shirt. "Not for me. I've been wanting Trig for years, and with you here with us?—"

Trig did a double take as he looked at me. "You have?"

I nodded. "I can't tell you the number of times I almost said something, but I didn't want to ruin things… So, to answer your question, Nate, it's not too soon. Apparently, we've been waiting for you this entire time."

I hadn't realized that was true until I said it. It felt right. It had never been the right time to act on our feelings until Nate walked into our world. I hated the reason he was forced to rely on us, but I was so grateful for this man, for both of them, and I planned to show them exactly how grateful I was.
