Epilogue
Seven More Months Later
"Ijust really miss her," Laken whispers, swiping at her teary eyes.
"Aww, firecracker. I know," I assure her, pulling her nude body onto my chest. It takes a little focus, but I eventually force myself to purr. "You know she's as happy as can be. She's chasing Aurora around. Vale is probably spoiling her rotten."
"I know, but I think the waves are done," she says with a hopeful lilt to her voice that's hard to deny.
"You said that three or four hours ago." I raise a hand to wave at Locke's and Ranger's exhausted nude forms. "It's only been two-and-a-half days."
She shudders out a breath, nodding against my skin. "I know. God, heats are tough when you already have kids."
"They are," I agree.
They're a whole lot of fun, too, but it's definitely not easy being away from Aspen.
Luckily, we have a solid support system. It also means we regularly have extra kids in the house, since we swap out with Vale and Annika.
My sweet little omega nuzzles closer, running her fingers over my pec. "I love listening to you purr for me."
I chuckle, kissing her forehead. "I just really fucking love you."
Three-and-a-Half Years After That
You've never been mean-mugged until you've gotten death glares from a toddler and preschooler when telling them no cookies before dinner.
"Please?" Bri says, nodding her head of blondish-brown curls. "Just one."
"Just one each," Aspen corrects. She's the negotiator of the two.
I peek around and don't spot anyone, so I snatch the cookies off the top of the refrigerator and pass out one to each of them. I shove the container back on the fridge and spot Laken swaying her way into the room with her swollen baby belly.
Oh yeah, baby number three is on the way, and I'm about to get my ass handed to me by the woman I love.
"Run," I whisper, shooing them away with the evidence.
They run off with laughing squeals to give them away.
I smirk. "God, you're sexy when you waddle."
"You're weak." She laughs, walking into my chest. The pregnant belly popped earlier this time, and she has to turn sideways to snuggle her face to my armpit.
"For you girls?" I chuckle. "I really am." I palm the baby belly.
"Who wants to come outside to feed the pigs with me?" Ranger calls out.
The girls instantly scream that they're coming.
Karma bounds through the kitchen.
The house is complete chaos.
All. The. Damn. Time.
But I'm pretty sure life doesn't get any better than this.
