3. Zarios

Chapter three

After getting some rest, I did a quick loop of the palace, doing my best to look like any other visitor while memorizing more of the castle around me.

When I was done, I decided to walk the woods on the perimeter of the area. I could have stuck to the grounds, but I didn't want to be around more people than necessary. I grimaced thinking about the ball I already committed to attending.

As I stepped through the forest path, I heard a branch crack that wasn't from my steps. I continued walking, not letting on that I heard, but I was surely being followed. It wasn't surprising. If I was on the opposite side, I wouldn't be trusting either. Though I was no longer a general, I grew up to become one, and I knew how they thought.

A few minutes later, I caught them out of the corner of my eye. The glint of armor peered through the trees, moonlight bouncing off the metal. I huffed in amusement. They saw me as such a small threat, they couldn't even send someone trained? This person was obviously still new if they had that much trouble hiding in a dense forest .

I couldn't help it. I drew my sword, hoping to egg them on. I didn't hear any more movement, but the glint was gone.

I held my stance, circling around. Suddenly, I heard a slight noise that drew my attention. "I know you're there," I said, loud enough for them to hear.

I didn't hear anything else, so I kept walking. "Fine," I sighed, sheathing my sword. "If you want to enjoy a nice walk through the woods, be my guest. But watch out—I've heard there's some nasty thistle in there."When I said that, the bush to the right shook slightly. As it did, I took my opportunity. I swung my sword out and cut through the top. I knew I wouldn't hit whoever was there, I just wanted to mess with them a little, not cause any actual harm.

What I didn't expect was to be met with a readied blade, pushing mine away and out of my grip. I didn't have the sturdiest hand when I swung, not expecting any kind of retaliation.

Out of the bush came a head of dark hair and pale skin that looked familiar, but I couldn't recall why. She was beautiful, her face sharp, and she wore knight's armor, but it seemed to be an unofficial set. Her eyes were piercing and dark, like there was a fire behind them.

"Don't move," she said, her sword now pointed at my neck. Her voice was deep and melodic.

I huffed my annoyance. "I was just trying to take a walk."

"Then why did you swing at me?"

I smirked. "Because you aren't very good at your job."

"I am," she said in disbelief .

"I easily saw you, so I would have to disagree."

Her grip let up slightly. "How—"

I took my opportunity, pushing her sword away as I reached for the dagger still at my side. She recovered quickly, jumping from the bush and readying up in front of me.

Her frame was small, barely reaching my chest. Her sword was also much smaller than mine, with a purple gem in the hilt. Though it was fancy, it was obviously also practical. She was in training armor, her hair pushed back off her face.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I could ask the same question," she said.

I moved forward, like I would slash at her, but she blocked it easily.

I swung again, harder this time, and again, her blade bounced mine away. I had no intention of harming her, but for some reason, I couldn't help but play with her a bit. It was obvious she was trained, despite lacking any snooping abilities.

"You're better than you look," I commented.

She blew a piece of hair from her face. "I've heard that a few times."

She went in for the attack this time, going for my non-dominant side. I blocked her, swinging her off and sending her flying. She landed with an oof, her ass hitting the leafy ground.

She got up with grace and ran at me again, this time aiming lower in hopes I couldn't block. Though I was large, I was much more dexterous than my opponents ever gave me credit for. I blocked her before going for a counter she blocked flawlessly.

We went back and forth, trading blow for blow, neither of us ever quite getting the advantage. It had been a very long time since I met someone who could match me in this way. Even when I trained with the guard, I was always going at about half. Here, I was going full out, needing to use my strength and my mind to its fullest. Though the fierce look never left her face, I could tell she was also enjoying this fight.

Finally, I managed to get a bit of an upper hand, catching her off guard and sweeping her to the ground. Her sword dropped a bit away, and I was on her before she could scramble for it. I dropped my dagger and gripped her hands above her head, breathing heavily. Her breasts shook slightly with the action, my cock taking definite notice. I ignored it. I hadn't gotten laid in a while, and I was sure that was the reason.

"Were you sent on orders to follow me?" I asked. I needed to know how much scrutiny I was truly under.

Her eyes narrowed, her lips shut tight. Even pinned under me, she never relented. "Suit yourself." I pulled my belt from its place around my waist.

Her eyes widened. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing of that sort," I promised.

She started trying to break free once again, but it was no use. I tied her hands above her head. Seeing her laid out, tied up with a red face, was doing things to me, things I would never admit aloud .

"Free me this instant," she insisted, still struggling. I stood up and pulled her to her feet before picking up both of our swords, all the while leading her with the tail of my belt.

I began the trek back to the castle, but she fought me harshly still. "You don't need to be difficult," I told her, but she kept fighting. "Fine," I said after a few moments of fighting, "but you chose this."

I walked towards her, and her eyes widened. "What are you doing?" she said, trying and failing again to escape. I caught her as I yanked the belt forward, before throwing her over my shoulder easily, her legs dangling in front of me.

She screamed and began kicking me, slapping my back with her fists. "Fighting will just tire you out," I told her.

She continued for a few moments more before relaxing, realizing my words were true. "You can't take me back like this. They'll think you've kidnapped me." I found it interesting that she sounded more nervous than angry.

"If they see me," I said.

"There are guards everywhere. Someone will see you. Just put me down. I'll walk with you."

There was a hint of worry in her tone again. "Someone sounds embarrassed to get caught."

I felt her punch into my back again. "It's not about that. Put me down!"

"Don't worry, I won't let you get caught." It was obvious to me she didn't want to be caught by her captain. She must have come to the force recently.

She scoffed. "Are you going to carry me the whole way?"

"Yes." And it wasn't because she felt right in my arms.

"Great."
