Chapter 34

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

HARPER

I lie here in bed with Asher, softly snoring as the sun hangs high in the sky. It must be sometime after noon, but then again, we fell asleep as the sun started rising. Asher spent hours worshipping every inch of my body. I watch his chest rise and fall as my fingers dance over his wedding band.

It feels right; we’ve gone through so much together and we’ve come out the other end fighting, swinging, and stronger than ever. They thought they could break me, us but they failed. They only ended up pushing us together for us to forge an unbreakable bond.

The guys are all happy for us, which is nice. We thought they might be a little mad that we didn’t include them, but they get it. Asher told me last night that after this is all over with, we could have a better ceremony if I wanted but the way it happened was perfect for us.

Last night, we took down seven. That’s ten of them from that room. Part of me wishes they knew it was me before they died, but Asher was right—it was too risky. The news showed the fire continued into the early hours. No survivors. They know it was a bomb, but there’s nothing tying us to the scene, and Asher thinks they will blame it on gang rivalry.

I have five more in my sights, ending with Deacon. He won’t die anonymously the way the others did. He’s going to look me in the eye when I make him beg for his life. He will know it’s me who put him down.

“Morning, wife.” Asher opens his eyes, stretching out a smile on his face.

I lean down, kissing him on the cheek. “I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to that.”

“Well, you better because there’s no going back.” He moves suddenly, flipping us over so he’s on top of me. “But don’t worry, you’ll always be my little demon too.” He grins before kissing me passionately. I just melt for him. He jumps up off me suddenly. “C’mon, I’ll make you breakfast.” He looks out of the window, seeing the sun beam in the sky then grabs his phone from the side. “Okay, maybe lunch.”

He chuckles, pulling me up against his naked body. I whimper as I feel his cock against me, memories of last night rushing back. “Fuck me, baby, you have no idea what that sound does to me, but I think you might need a break. I want to ruin you, not break you.” He smirks and I slap his chest.

“Don’t worry, I can handle it.”

“Don’t tempt me, Little Demon.”

“Or what?”

He groans, “Or we’re going back to bed, and you won’t be leaving this room all day and night, which means you’ll miss tonight.”

I toy with the idea; I mean sex with Ash versus hanging out with my friends… Is there really a choice in there, but since it was me that pushed for this, I know I can’t go back on my word.

“Fine,” I grumble, and he just laughs. He goes into the closet, pulling on a pair of sweats—which he’s insane for. How the fuck do I go about my day watching his fucking cock through them and his abs on show.

I follow him and get dressed, just throwing on a little dress but no underwear. Two can play that game. I give him a smirk as I stroll past him, giving him a wink, and in response, he reaches out, slapping my ass. I run down the stairs and stop as Asher smacks into me.

“Oh my god, when did you do this?” I ask him, looking around the room.

“I didn’t?”

“Surprise!” Out jumps Jax, Chase, and Brooke from behind the couch.

“You guys did this?” I ask, my eyes welling up with tears, taking everything in. There’s a giant hanging sign saying “Just Married,” little bridal cupcakes stacked in the corner, glasses of bubbly, and a bunch of other wedding décor like flowers and balloons all over the lounge.

“We wanted to make sure that despite everything, you still took a day to celebrate.” Brooke smiles.

“That’s so sweet.” I walk over to her, giving her a huge hug, “Thank you!”

“Well, I can’t take all the credit. The boys ran out at the crack of dawn this morning to go get everything.”

I move over to Jax. “Congratulations, girl.” He laughs, picking me up, hugging me, and swinging me around.

“Woah!”

I hear Chase, and suddenly, Asher runs over covering me up with his body.

“Uh, Jax, she’s flashing everybody, bro. Can you put her down?”

Brooke bursts out laughing. “She’s not the only one. You might want to avoid running in those sweats.”

“Oh fuck” I scream, pulling my dress down. “Erm, maybe, give us a minute? We weren’t really expecting guests.” I laugh.

A few minutes later, we’re more appropriately dressed and drinking a glass of champagne.

“I just wish you had pictures.” Brooke sighs.

“We do.” Ash pulls his phone out, opens the pictures up, and tosses it to her.

“Oh my god, you guys even got dressed up.”

“Yeah, my man looks good in a suit. Total, fucking, Boss Man.” I smirk before I kiss him.

“Harper, you look beautiful.” Chase smiles before tossing the phone to Jax.

Jax smiles as he flicks through a few pictures we had someone take on his phone.

“I’ve uploaded them to your cloud just in case you lose this.” Jax tosses the phone back.

“You guys look really happy.”

“I am,” I say, smiling.

“We are,” Asher corrects me.

“We are.” I smile.

We just enjoy the afternoon between us, drinking, laughing, sharing stories. As if we’re normal. There are no shadows that disturb us this afternoon, no dark thoughts, no memories that bring us to tears. Just true happiness.
