Chapter 10
ChapterTen
“Are those the only options?”Jax asked the question seriously, as best I could tell. No hint of amusement was present. “I could stay here on Earth for my boss.”
“Is that something your boss would allow?”
“I will ask Vadhea. We get a lot of runners here because of our ability to blend with humans.”
“Hah, yeah, you blend.”
“Moreso than on other planets.”
“Fair enough.” I cupped my breasts, already reminiscing about Jax touching me. “Is Vadhea, your boss, also on Brak?”
“No, the Lynka Syndicate is based on Magvu.”
“Spell them, please,” I demanded, and Jax did, a small smile playing on his mouth.
“What?”
“I have never… glowed… that intensely with a female on Brak.”
“Oh,” I said. “What about other human females?”
“You are the first.”
His admission surprised me. “I am? How come?”
“It was only work while on Earth before,” he said, shrugging, another remarkably human gesture. I wondered just how similar our two species were. Although there was one BIG difference.
“You’ve never… bartered here before,” I said.
“No, I have not. Although you enjoyed this barter, you called the first barters abuses of power.” He frowned. “Is bartering bad here?”
I sighed. “The way you did it is bad in our culture.”
“You enjoyed it.”
“That’s a complicating factor, to be sure,” I reluctantly agreed.
“Perhaps I should stay away from human females.” Jax sounded forlorn with that pronouncement.
“Perhaps,” I agreed, albeit still reluctantly. Oh, fuck it. It was already done, and he didn’t know any better. “But then we wouldn’t have had our fun.”
“Correct. So what I did was okay?”
“No. And don’t do it again with any other Earth females.” My fingers traced the muscles in his upper thigh. “You and I can play any time and any way you want while you’re here.”
“Back to the alley?”
“Except that,” I said with a disgusted shake. The hotness of the frisk did not mitigate the nastiness of the alleyway. Unfortunately.
Jax started to glow. “Now is a good time to play.”
“Yes, yes it is,” I agreed, as he pushed me back onto the bed and his lips smashed into mine. We’d work out the details later. Much, much later.
