Rule #12: Don't Let Her Out Of Your Sight

Daniel

I strode into the club adjusting the rolled up sleeves of my black shirt rather unnecessarily. I drew interested looks from women at the bar, but none of them held my attention. Not when I couldn't get a certain set of fiery caramel brown eyes out of my head.

"Whiskey please," I said when I got the bartender's attention.

I took a seat on the far end of the bar. I could have gone to a dive bar and got black out drunk, but music always tended to drown out the demons. I turned around on my stool, nursing my drink when a flash of blue hair caught my eye.

I did a double take.

Surely not.

But there she was. Zoe dancing with a leggy blonde – I sniffed then growled – vampire. Now it was a well-crafted legend that wolves and vamps didn't get on. That was notoriously untrue. Our kinds got on rather well. But I had a personal grudge against bloodsuckers. They'd taken the one person who meant anything to me. The one person who loved me no matter what.

So I kept my distance, but I couldn't keep my eyes off her. Her hips swung in a mesmerizing way that had me hypnotized. She was fucking gorgeous. Lights bounced off her golden brown shoulders and the lace dress that was basically lingerie did me in.

A low growl rumbled through me as I watched a blond man separate her from the vamp, but she didn't seem to notice. She seemed like she was least four shots in by now and little ma'am was letting loose. She welcomed his touch though and for some reason, that made my chest twist in an unpleasant way. I was far from a jealous man, and I wasn't the kind of wolf to piss over something and stake my claim. Maybe she had a thing for blondes. Or dark haired motherfuckers, as another man approached her front. His hands roaming her body. I couldn't torture myself watching this. So I turned my back and ordered another drink. I came to get drunk. Not hung up on women who apparently wanted nothing to do with me.

I threw back my drink and signaled the bartender for another. Two drinks later and maybe I was just a sucker for self-inflicted torture, because I swivelled back around on the stool scanning the crowd of gyrating bodies. I spotted the blonde vamp pretty quickly, she stood taller than most.

But no Zoe.

I did another scan, then stood, eyes darting around as I tried to locate her. My hackles raised and my ears tuned everything else out when her voice came from somewhere off to the side.

"I don't get on my knees for anyone."

She sounded pissed, but I could detect a faint note of fear. I'd never moved so fast in my life .

The blond bastard gripped her face, pressing her against the wall while the other one held her legs down, his hands wandering up her thighs and under her dress. I gripped him by his dark hair, yanking him back.

"I believe the lady isn't interested."

I threw him against the wall and he slumped to the ground. The commotion caught the blond one's attention, giving Zoe enough space to bring her thumbs up to his eyes and push. He screamed and she aimed a kick to his stomach. He doubled over. Zoe grabbed his head and brought her knee to his face. He howled in pain, clutching his face as blood spurted everywhere.

Huh, maybe Muay Thai was the better sport after all.
