6 months ago, I started over.

Living alone in a huge city is better than being stuck in a small town where everyone knows your ex cheated on you.

Here, nobody knows who I am except the kids I teach, and I much prefer it this way.

Until a well-dressed man changes everything.

His daughter is in my class, and while the rest of the school seems to know who he is, to me, he’s just a hot guy in a suit— until he’s not.

I told myself I’d never let a man own me again. I’d never lose myself the way I had before. But they aren’t like he was, and maybe being theirs wouldn’t be so bad.

If only he wasn’t my boss…

Aerilyn- The past has a way of catching up with you. Karma always comes back around.

People say that, but it's a lie.

Growing up, I did everything my parents wanted me to. I got good grades, played every instrument, and attended every recital. I learned three languages and didn't dare break the rules. I got into the best college and followed their plan.

I knew from a young age my life was not my own. I was merely an extension of them. A way to keep our money flowing and continue our family legacy. I didn't need to marry for love. The thought never even crossed my mind, but I didn't think they would hand me over to a monster.

In the end, all I have to show for it is my piece of shit car and the money I've saved in secret to get away from him. Anywhere is better than where I started, and I'm not picky if it means getting away.

It can't get much worse… Right?

Kai- Being top side with my brothers was supposed to be an escape, but it's not all it's cracked up to be. I'd thought it would be a piece of cake, as the humans say. But I ate one measly human, and now I'm almost positive I'd prefer the wailing of the lost souls over Asta's constant nagging.

How hard could it be to find another one? There are only a few Billion of them wandering around.

Did it have to be this one, though?
