As the last unmated member of his clan, dragon shifter, Eron Atarah, plans a foodie weekend away in order to put some space between himself and all of the mated couples in the castle. As much as he loves spending all day in the kitchen, constantly being reminded of his single status is taking a toll on his normally, easy-going good.

Curvy girl, Jenna Nichols, knows she isn't good enough to date someone wealthy on a permanent basis, but she's not looking for permanent. At least that's what she tells herself after blatantly getting stood up while sitting alone in the expensive hotel restaurant. When she walks into the sports bar he's sitting in to pass the time, he can't believe his luck, but his happiness is quickly overshadowed by the fear in her eyes.

Kari Donovan hates living in the city, and her wolf hates it even more, but wide-open spaces make her vulnerable to other shifters, and she knows they can't be trusted. Especially dragons. So, when a gorgeous dragon shifter notices her, she doesn't hesitate to run. She might be completely alone in the world, and barely getting by, but she's not ready to die.

Evander is hurt by Kari's initial rejection, but her fear brings out all of his protective instincts, and he isn't about to let her get away. Not when she needs him, even if she isn't ready to admit it yet. Kari wants to believe in everything Evander has to offer, but it all seems too good to be true, and trust doesn't come easy when you've been without it for so long.
